Covid, from Monday 31 three Regions in the white area

Molise, Sardinia and Friuli make their debut in the white area, but by mid-June it will be the turn of half of Italy, including Lazio and Lombardy

Covid, from Monday 31 three Regions in the white area

Italy is starting to turn white, that is, to reopen itself. Until now the honor had only fallen to Sardinia (which however fell shortly after in the red zone), while from Monday 31 May Molise, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Sardinia itself enter the white zone. The data from these three regions are now more than reassuring: the incidence of contagion is less than 20 cases per 100.000 inhabitants, to be precise 12,3 in Molise, 12,8 in Sardinia and 17,2 in Friuli. The rest of the country remains in the yellow zone, but even there with encouraging data, which suggest that within a few weeks we will reach the white zone for all of Italy or almost, although the experts continue to preach the utmost caution, because despite vaccines and precautions are not yet at zero risk. Good news also on the front of the occupation of hospitalization and intensive care units, both well below 20% of the total available places and therefore far from the critical threshold of 40 and 30% respectively.

The next regions to enter the white zone, from Monday 7 June, should therefore be Liguria, Veneto, Abruzzo and Umbria, which today travel around 30 cases per 100.000 inhabitants or a little more. In mid-June, on the 14th, the green light is expected for half of Italy: it will be the turn of the two most populous regions, Lazio and Lombardy, but also of Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont, Puglia and the autonomous province of Trento. All the others will still have to wait almost a month, which today have an index still higher than 50 cases per 100.000 inhabitants. The best placed are Sicily and the Marches, while the contagion is still a bit high in Campania and above all in the Aosta Valley, which was not by chance the last region to conquer the yellow zone.

Meanwhile, the reopenings continue. The latest, after that of the gyms, will be those of indoor swimming pools, weddings, theme parks and discos. But above all with the white areas, the restrictions are loosened a lot: the Regions have reached an agreement with the Government to completely abolish the curfew in the white area, and there will also be the go-ahead for going to indoor clubs. They will, in fact, remain alone the obligation to wear a mask and distance social. Even the masks themselves, except if indoors and in crowded and risky places, may no longer be mandatory within a couple of months, as Prime Minister Mario Draghi himself hypothesized.
