Covid, Brescia and the Bergamo area again in an emergency

While half the government is pressing for reopening, the pandemic situation is getting worse. In all the province of Brescia was established a “strengthened” orange zone. Same provision for a series of Municipalities in the province of Bergamo: Viadanica, Predore San Martino, Sarnico, Villongo, Castelli Calepio, Credaro and Gandosso in the province of Bergamo and Soncino in the province of Cremona. The announcement came from the vice president and Welfare assessor of the Lombardy Region, Letizia Moratti, who sent a communication to the Regional Council at Palazzo Pirelli in Milan.

The ordinance will be signed by the governor Attilio Fontana and will enter into force from 18 pm today. In addition to the normal orange zone measures, the provision also imposes "the closure of elementary schools, kindergartens and nursery schools, prohibition to go to second homes; the mandatory use of smart working where possible; the use of surgical masks on means of transport; the closure of university activities in presence".

The ordinance establishing the red zone in the municipalities of Bollate, Castrezzato (Brescia), Mede (Pavia) and Viggiù (Varese) is also extended.

The vaccination plan has also changed: from Thursday, priority will be given to the most affected areas for vaccinations for law enforcement officers and school staff. The over 80s, on the other hand, continue with the old pattern throughout the region.
