March was another month to forget for the Italian construction market. According to data released by Istat, the sector production index, corrected for calendar effects, it tumbled 20,9% year over year.
Compared to February, however, the seasonally adjusted index decreased by 4,1%. In the January-March average there was a decrease of 7,2% compared to the previous quarter and of 12,1% on an annual basis.
Also in March 2013, the raw index showed a trend decline of 23,6% compared to the same month of 2012. On average for the first three months of the year, production fell by 13,4% on the year.
