Labor cost: Italy below the Eurozone average, but taxes and contributions weigh more

The Italian figure is lower than that of Euroland (28 euros), settling at 27,4 euros (against 27,1 in 2011), but in our country the weight of taxes and contributions is among the highest: 27,9% , against the average 26,1% in the euro area.

In the 2012 hourly labor cost it was an average of 28 euros in the Eurozone need 23,4 euros in the EU 27, against the respective 27,5 euros and 23 euros recorded in 2011. The numbers were published today by Eurostat.

The highest labor cost among the countries of the single currency is recorded in Belgium (37,2 euros), followed in the standings by France (34,2 euros), Holland (32,2 euros), Austria (30,5 euros) e Germany (30,4 euros). Instead, they are at the opposite end of the ranking Slovakia (8,3 euros) ed Estonia (8,4 euro). 

In general, the cost of labor in the euro area grew between 2008 and 2012 by 8,7%, while in the whole European Union the increase was 8,6%. The weight of taxes and contributions was respectively 26,1 and 23,7%.
