Constitutional Court: Giuliano Amato is the new president

Giuliano Amato, 83 years old from Turin, twice Prime Minister and several times Minister, former President of the Antitrust, professor emeritus of comparative public law is the new President of the Constitutional Court. The same Court elected him unanimously this morning as Amato, as practice dictates, was the most senior councilor. He will remain in office for about 8 months. Then the mandate, for a total of 9 years, will expire.

In recent days, the possibility that Amato could become the new President of the Republic by moving from the Palazzo della Consulta to the Palazzo del Quirinale, which is exactly opposite, had also been overshadowed.

Amato immediately appointed his deputies in the persons of Silvana Sciarra, Daria de Pretis and Nicolò Zanon.

Unanimous appreciation for the presidency of Giuliano Amato.
