Scudetto race: Juve make poker, but Rome and Naples do not give up

All the top three in the class win – Juve, led by Mandzukic and Chiellini, beat Sampdoria four goals to one by a confused Giampaolo (Muriel and Quagliarella only in the second half) – Roma comeback to win in Emilia against Sassuolo ( 1-3) – Napoli beat Empoli and get ready for the big match against Juve

Scudetto race: Juve make poker, but Rome and Naples do not give up

Everything as per script. No surprises regarding the upper part of the standings on this championship Wednesday, which saw Juventus, Roma and Napoli win and convince. The black and whites erased the defeat at San Siro, the yellow and reds and blues, in addition to overtaking Milan, have relaunched themselves strongly as possible contenders for the Scudetto.

The victories are all worth 3 points, there's no rain on this: analyzing them in detail, however, it is clear that Spalletti's team comes out of this round more strengthened, if only because his race was decidedly more difficult than those of his rivals. Massimiliano Allegri, however, is not interested: the 3-1 over Sampdoria (brace from Chiellini and goals from Mandzukic, Schick for the blucerchiati), in fact, keeps him in the lead of the championship and this, ça va sans dire, is what matters most .

“We put in a good performance, everyone showed a great desire to win – explained the Juventus coach. – Now we will think about Napoli but it makes no sense to talk about the Scudetto match: we are only in the first round and then there is also Roma”.

Indeed, the Giallorossi seem to have found a gear to be held in high esteem. The comeback success against Sassuolo is one of the heavy ones and adds to those with Inter, Naples and Palermo, for a respectable winning streak. Roma are finally showing continuity and personality, the one that served to replace Paolo Cannavaro's cold goal (12') through Dzeko's brace (55' and 76' from a penalty) and Nainggolan's final tap-in (78 ').

The only negative note of the evening was Florenzi's bad injury: the Giallorossi handyman suffered a sprain to his knee, although luckily the ligament rupture would seem to have been avoided. “We are all with him, we hope he recovers as soon as possible – commented Spalletti. – We reacted great against a good Sassuolo, now we have to continue like this even if it is still too early to talk about the standings".

A lot will also depend on next Saturday's Juventus-Napoli, especially as regards the Azzurri. The home success against Empoli (2-0, goals from Mertens and Chiriches) keeps the distances unchanged, which is why the Stadium will need a great performance from Sarri's team.

“We know we're going to face a very strong team, the number one favorite for the title but I'd like to see grit and character – thought the blue coach. – We are making a respectable journey, moreover we must not forget that in the summer we lost the best striker in all of Serie A". Saturday the first face-to-face with him too, with Roma as a very interested spectator…
