The pharmaceutical sector is running fast: exports +6% in 2014

In a context of stagnant economy, one of the most prosperous sectors, at least in Italy, remains that of pharmaceutica. Witness the annual report of Anac, which outlines the picture of an industrial sector in which hiring, production and exports, above all, are constantly growing.

As far as employment is concerned, for example, in the last 12 months there have been as many as 5.000 new hires, also thanks to the thrust of the Jobs Act. The sector, in Italy, it has 63 employees, 174 factories and 2,5 billion in investments, confirming itself as the European heart of the sector.

In 2014 investments showed an increase of 11% on an annual basis, while l'export it grew by 1,2 billion, for an annual increase of 6%, which follows the double-digit increases recorded in 2012 and 2014. Production reached 28,7 billion euros, +4,5% year on year.

Despite these numbers, Farmindustria asks the Government to put an end to the structural cuts affecting the sector. As the president of the association Massimo Scaccabarozzi explains, on the eve of a State-Regions conference "It would really be a shame to resort to pharmaceuticals again as was done in the past as a sort of ATM, because one prefers to invest in structure rather than in welfare, this would really be a shame because we think we are doing something healthy for the country".
