Corporate e-bike sharing is here: Terna chooses Pirelli bikes for its employees in eight offices

Here comes thecorporate e-bike sharing. Terna has signed an agreement with Pirelli which provides the rental of pedal assisted bikes for its employees on a national scale, in eight offices of the operator of the national electricity transmission grid. The two groups announced it in a joint statement.

The e-bike sharing project offered by Pirelli is called "Cycle-e around” and has the objective of encouraging the sustainable mobility of company employees. Terna is the first social organization in Italy to have adopted it.

With "CYCL-e around", people who work in eight Terna offices, located throughout Italy, will be able to use pedal-assisted bikes for home-office travel, during the working day or for leisure time. The idea, the press release specifies, “is of promote alternative mobility complementary to the traditional one, with easier access conditions to sustainable means of transport, allowing this solution to be tested in safety and relying on the expertise of a player that has always been active in the various forms of mobility such as Pirelli".

At home or at work, four solutions offered by the Terna-Pirelli agreement

There are four rental methods offered under the Pirelli-Terna agreement:

  • Working Time, to use the e-bike during the working day for business trips around the city
  • Home2Work, for the daily home-office journeys
  • Smart Week, for the use of e-bikes for 7 consecutive days
  • Weekend Break, to use Pirelli electric bikes at the weekend with no mileage limits.

The bikes can be booked in total autonomy through a special App made available on the company intranet, while the Pirelli e-bike fleets will be available in special areas equipped for the custody and maintenance of the same bicycles at the Triad.

The intention is to "increasingly promote sustainable mobility and to make people aware of its importance," he says Roberto Giovannini, Terna's Sustainability Manager. "Participation in the 'CYCL-e around' project stems from the activities of the 'Sustainability and Communication' construction site, one of the seven work tables within the NexTerna project, news ways of working, launched last year", added Giovannini .

“The 'CYCL-e around' service is part of the attention to sustainability that Pirelli places in all its activities, products and services. Terna's launch of this service on a national scale confirms that this attention is widespread in the corporate world, a sign that it is the right path to follow” he declared Francesco Bruno, Head of Micromobility Solutions at Pirelli.
