Coronavirus, quarantine also on May 1st. Borrelli: "Phase 2 after"

Other than Easter and Easter Monday. The hypothesis, tangible, is that of spending Labor Day closed in the house too. Heartening news about the coronavirus emergency is beginning to arrive. The general lockdown and the restrictions imposed by the government on citizens and businesses are working: infections are going down, as are the number of hospitalized patients in collapsing hospitals. Good news, but we must continue to hold on, perhaps for much longer.

Last April 1, the Prime Minister announced the extension of the current anti Covid-19 restrictions until 13 April, but according to what was stated by the head of the Civil Protection, Angelo Borrelli, it is likely that the restrictions will continue until mid-May: “I don't think this situation will pass by that date. We will have to stay at home for many weeks”. This is what Borrelli a Radio Me too on Rai Radio 1, reiterating the need to have "very rigorous conduct". The coronavirus, he added, "will change our approach to human and interpersonal contacts, we will have to keep our distance" for some time.

Faced with the discontent of Palazzo Chigi, Borrelli then tried to downsize his exit by saying that for now the only certain date is April 13, but the substance remains.

“The current situation – said Borrelli, this time speaking on Circus Maximuson Radio Capital – allows us to breathe, especially as regards health care facilities and intensive care units which are lightening of a workload that was much heavier every day and involved extraordinary sacrifices to find new places of hospitalization and treatment. It is a situation that allows us to manage the emergency with less effort. This is because behaviors have been put in place that absolutely must continue".

Could 16 May therefore be the date indicated to begin phase 2, that of the restart?“If the trend doesn't change, it could be, how it could be before or after, it depends on the data” he replied “We have to see when this situation starts to decrease. I don't want to give dates, though between now and May 16th we will be able to have further positive data which recommend that we resume activities and therefore begin phase 2".

He also intervenes on the situation the president of Assolombarda, Carlo Bonomi, that in an interview with Sheet launches an appeal to the Government: "It is time to realize that the everyone at home phase cannot last much longer and it is time to realize that Italy must gradually reopen".

"I have the impression - he added - that a strong and radical anti-industrial prejudice has returned to Italy and I must note that in this area the signals we receive from the government are not encouraging"

“Our enemy is the virus, we know it well, but our enemy is also time”. "I say it bluntly: in the absence of certain times as to when our country will restart again, it risks losing its neck", she concluded.

On April 2, the estimates of the Confindustria Study Center arrived, according to which industrial production collapsed by 16,6% in March, the worst drop since 1972. The quarterly data is also bad, with production down by 5,4%.
