Coronavirus: Lombardy closes everything, Dybala and Maldini positive

Faced with the Coronavirus emergency and the unstoppable growth of infected people (almost 5 in the last 24 hours) and deaths (793 in the last 24 hours), the Lombardy Region - supported by mayors of all political stripes, trade unions and businesses – broke the delay and decided to close everything, companies and non-essential services even before the government.

In the region most affected by the epidemic - which has its epicenter in the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia - only pharmacies, newsagents and shops and supermarkets that sell food will remain open.

The ordinance, signed by the Governor of Lombardy Fontana, takes effect immediately and will last at least until April 15th. Anyone who violates the rules faces fines of up to 5 euros, beyond the criminal effects.

With this move, the Lombardy region – closely imitated by the Piedmont region – has once again pressed the Government and Prime Minister Conte, inducing them to get out of the indecisionism of the last few days and follow it with a tightening of precautionary measures.

In addition to the mournful news - which make Italy the country where the most people die from Covid-19 - and a virus that gives no respite especially in the North, there is however at least one positive and that is the massive availability of doctors who by the thousands have responded positively to the Government's appeal in search of health workers willing to take to the trenches against the Coronavirus.

However, there is also negative news, which affects the world of sport and football: the Argentine champion of Juventus, Paulo Dybala, was found, like his girlfriend Oriana Sbatini, to test positive for the Coronavirus. He is the third Juventus player - after Rugani and Matuidi - who will have to face the quarantine while the resumption of the football championship appears increasingly problematic. But the virus doesn't look in anyone's face and the tests also resulted positive for Milan supporters Paolo Maldini and his son Daniel, who recently made his Serie A debut.
