Coronavirus: Intesa Sanpaolo, the point on financing

What is the leading Italian bank doing to deal with the emergency caused by the Coronavirus? From loans to businesses and families, to donations and aid to the health system

Proceed at full speed Intesa Sanpaolo's commitment to counter the coronavirus emergency, above all through donations, loans and in general support initiatives for both the healthcare system and the productive fabric, which has been put to a very severe test in recent weeks. In fact, the bank is rapidly complying with the urgent measures envisaged by the Liquidity Law Decree to facilitate access to credit (guaranteed by the Central Guarantee Fund and by Sace) for companies, self-employed workers, professionals and to support business continuity.

As for requests up to 25.000 euros, possible from Monday 20 April, the bank led by Carlo Messina has already carried out 1.000 current account credits and another 7.000 files are being disbursed, with rates starting from 0,04%. Customer interest is particularly high as expected: over 104.000 requests received, of which 32.000 in the last day. Intesa Sanpaolo notes that around a quarter of the applications are however incomplete and require further processing. "The machine developed in a very short time to manage online requests, without having to go to the branch, is still working at its best, allowing you to manage the flow in an orderly manner", explains a note from Intesa.

Two other factors were decisive: the decision to strengthen the territorial structures with support task forces, able to examine the considerable number of requests that arrive every day and contacting customers by phone in the previous weeks to inform and prepare them. Starting next week, the joint work of the network and the dedicated task forces, further strengthened, will allow for an even greater acceleration of processes. For customers, there are just a few necessary steps – clearly illustrated on the Intesa Sanpaolo website in the “Business” section – to download, fill in the online forms and send them to the bank via certified email (pec).
