Coronavirus, Intesa and Calzedonia donate clothes to patients

Intesa Sanpaolo's commitment to support the country in the Covid-19 emergency continues. The latest initiative is a collaboration with the Calzedonia group, thanks to which eleven thousand undergarments have been delivered to some hospitals in Lombardy and Veneto to be distributed urgently and free of charge to hospitalized patients for coronaviruses, which evidently cannot receive the necessary replacement from families stopped due to the quarantine.

Part of the garments was purchased by Intesa Sanpaolo, part is donated directly by Calzedonia. The hospitals involved are: Pope John XXIII of Bergamo, Spedali Civili of Brescia, Hospital of Cremona, of Oglio Po and Nuovo Robbiani of Soresina in the province of Cremona, Hospital Company - University of Padua. In this moment of health emergency, Intesa Sanpaolo has thus decided to focus on coronavirus patients his project “Golden Links: ties are gold” born two years ago to counter the need for undergarments by poor people and families through the involvement of non-profit organizations and client companies of the Bank.

The project is developed in collaboration with Caritas Italiana and S-Nodi to respond to an often overlooked need that profoundly affects human dignity. In two years it has allowed the distribution of 114 garments and will continue in 2020/21 to meet the growing needs of an increasingly large group of people in difficulty. The initiative is part of Intesa Sanpaolo's commitment to the poor, one of the objectives of the Business Plan, which since 2018 has seen the distribution, in addition to clothing, of 8,7 million meals, 131 thousand medicines and ensuring 519 thousand beds.
