Coronavirus: FCA, Pirelli, Decathlon, anti-contagion closures

Due to the coronavirus emergency, FCA temporarily closes some of its Italian plants. From Wednesday 11, Fiat Chrysler explains in a note, "all the main Italian plants of the group will be involved in extraordinary interventions which will even lead, in some cases, to the temporary closure of individual plants to implement all possible measures to minimize the risk of contagion among workers. In particular, daily production will be reduced with less crowding of personnel in the main work areas".

Here are the establishments with the dates of closures:

  • Pomigliano: 11-16 March;
  • Melfi and Sevel di Val di Sangro: 12-14 March;
  • Cassino: 12-13 March.

FCA guarantees that “specific sanitization measures will also be carried out in each plant in the work areas and in particular in the common relaxation areas, changing rooms and toilets. The sanitation actions of the individual premises will continue even after this first extraordinary intervention ".

BENTIVOGLI: CLOSE FACTORIES THAT DO NOT COMPLY WITH ANTI-CORNAVIRUS RULES

"These are very hard days for Italian engineering factories - Marco Bentivogli, number one of the Fim Cisl union writes in a note - Unfortunately, in many large and small companies we record the lack of PPE (masks, sanitizers, etc.), sanitization of the premises and failure to respect the distance of at least one meter between workers. We know what it means to block all engineering factories for a month, but this becomes immediately necessary in companies that are proving unable to comply with these requirements".

PIRELLI SLOWS DOWN AT SETTIMO TORINESE

Meanwhile, Pirelli announces that "an employee of the Settimo Torinese factory tested positive for Covid19" and therefore "the company has decided to slow down production with a progressive recovery in the coming days. This will make it possible to have a very small number of people in the factory to guarantee maximum safety sanitary conditions. In the meantime, Pirelli will proceed with the complete sanitization of the plant and work areas. Supplies to customers will in any case be guaranteed also by making use of available stocks”.

DECATHLON CLOSES STORES IN ITALY

Decathlon, the French chain of shops dedicated to sport, also announces that from Wednesday 11 to Friday 13 March inclusive all shops in Italy will remain closed to the public. It will be possible to purchase the products only online. This measure adds to what is defined by the decree, specifies a note sent to all customers, which provides for the closure on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March.

COIN, CALZEDONIA AND KIKO ALSO CLOSE

Coin closes all stores from 12 March to 22 March and its headquarters from 13.

The brands of the group Calzedonia suspend the activity in the points of sale throughout Italy until April 3rd. Same decision also for the shops Kiko.
