Coronavirus: from Generali 14 million for masks

Generali continues its battle against the coronavirus: the latest news from the Trieste insurance company's commitment is that it has contributed to thepurchase, for the Civil Protection, of around 20 million professional masks, to support even more the operators involved in the Covid-19 health emergency.

The first supply will arrive in two weeks, the second within three weeks. The effective collaboration between the public and private sectors consists of a total investment of approximately 28 million, of which 14 million committed by the Civil Protection and another 14 million made available by Generali through the Extraordinary International Fund for the Covid-19 Emergency established on 13 last March.

The operation allows you to address the shortage of an indispensable tool for the protection of health workers in all Italian regions, and demonstrates how useful and important the continuous dialogue between the State and all the companies engaged in this period to face, in various forms, the pandemic emergency.

The Generali Group, active in 50 countries around the world, has mobilized its network globally to support the Civil Protection in the search for suppliers of medical material necessary to deal with the emergency. Contacts have already been established with various suppliers, particularly in China.

“Thank you Generali – he commented Domenico Arcuri, Extraordinary Commissioner for the emergency – for the really valuable support; but I also thank the Group for making its global network available, which is extremely useful because it can create contact with new, potential suppliers. This contribution is yet another testimony to the extraordinary solidarity of the country system in the most painful and difficult phase that Italy has ever gone through since the post-war period. However, a phase in which the State's ability to act quickly and to identify the most suitable tools and channels to respond to the most urgent requests emerges with force”.

To Arcuri's comment was added that of the top management of the winged Lion, the President Gabriele Galateri di Genola and the CEO Philippe Donnet: "The Group is proud to be able to make a concrete contribution to the Italian Civil Protection, engaged in an unprecedented effort these days. The Fund launched a few days ago is now active in many concrete initiatives. We also want to thank the employees of the Group who, starting with Italy, have decided to contribute to the Fund, combining their donations with those of the Company. It is an important sign of solidarity in a moment of particular need”.
