Coronavirus: what closes and what remains open

The succession of decrees on the coronavirus is creating quite a bit of confusion among citizens - Supermarkets, shopping centres, airports and stations, cinemas and bars, museums: let's see what can and cannot be done, what remains open and what closes after last decree of the Conte Government

Coronavirus: what closes and what remains open

Italy, all of Italy, is a protected area to combat the spread of the coronavirus. On Monday 9 March, the Government decided to extend the limitations to the whole national territory already imposed on Lombardy and on 14 other provinces in the North, but providing for some changes that strongly affect the life of citizens.

The decree, now renamed with the hashtag #iorestoacasa and entered into force on Tuesday 10 March, has the primary effect of limit the movement of citizens (there is not, however, an absolute ban) on entry and exit, but also within the same territory. You can only leave the house for work and health reasons (with a medical certificate) or to buy medicines and groceries. But it will have to be self-certified.

The rapid evolution of events has caused a lot of confusion among citizens, once again causing the assault on supermarkets and pharmacies. Many wonder what is possible and what is forbidden, which services are open and which ones have had to close flying due to the coronavirus.

SERVICES OPEN

The coronavirus will not stop freight transport, nor courier deliveries. We also offer home delivery services. Public offices will continue to perform their services, as will means of transport. But pay attention to the safety distance. Airports, stations and highways they will remain in regular operation, but those who decide to travel will have to respect the rules on travel and will be subject to checks by the police.

THE LIMITATIONS TO STOP THE CORONAVIRUS

I shopping malls will be closed on weekends, and during the week they will have to guarantee compliance with the safety distance of one meter, avoid gatherings or queues, while medium-large sales structures will have to close on holidays and the day before holidays. Restaurants and bars open until 18pm and closed in the evening. Supermarkets open with limited entrances to avoid gatherings, therefore "it is useless to storm them", reassures the Government. "It is not necessary and above all it is contrary to the reasons for the decree, linked to health protection and greater protection against the spread of Covid-19, to crowd and run to buy food or other basic necessities which can in any case be purchased in next days. There is no reason to rush because it will be guaranteed regular food supply“, explains a note from the Executive.
