After an initial allocation of 20,9 million, the Bank of Italy, which thanks to the profit achieved in 2019 and the relevant taxes, will pay the state coffers invaluable 8,9 billion euros, he resolved new donations with a total value of over 34 million euros, to contribute to the fight against the emergency from COVID-19. The new disbursements will finance the following projects, identified in agreement with the regional health authorities through the territorial network of the Bank of Italy:

• in Calabria, the setting up of 75 intensive care places and for the purchase of materials and equipment for the Catanzaro hospital;

• in Emilia Romagna, the setting up of 25 intensive care beds at the Rimini hospital and for the start of epidemiological research on populations at greatest risk;

• in Liguria, the setting up of a new covid-19 pavilion and two scientific laboratories at the San Martino hospital in Genoa;

• in Marche, the creation of 100 intensive care beds in the Ancona area;

• in Piemonte, the purchase of scientific equipment and furnishings for setting up a field hospital in Turin;

• in Puglia, the setting up of temporary structures for intensive care for a total of 48 beds at the Perrino hospital in Brindisi and Moscati hospital in Taranto;

• in Sardinia, the purchase of medical equipment and personal protective equipment;

• in Sicilia, the setting up of 32 intensive care beds at the Policlinico di Messina;

• in Toscana, the setting up of 51 intensive care beds in the Massa and Carrara area.

The resources come from the fund for charitable activities and public interest initiatives, the availability of which is established annually by the Superior Council of the Institute making use of a faculty expressly recognized by the Statute. The Bank of Italy will continue to work alongside the authorities in all phases of the emergency.
