Voltage continues to rise across the 38th parallel. North Korea loaded two medium-range missiles onto mobile launch pads and hid them on the east coast. This was reported by South Korean military sources quoted by the Yonhap agency. Meanwhile, the United States has already sent an anti-missile defense system to its military base on the island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean. South Korea has instead sent its destroyers to patrol the seas of the peninsula.

US President Barack Obama's spokesman Jay Carney said the US would take "all necessary precautions" to counter the threat of a nuclear attack by Pyongyang.

According to international observers, the North Korean regime is likely to launch the missiles on April 15, the date of birth of Kim Il-sung, founder of the nation and grandfather of Kim Jong-un.
