Italian Cup: Juve in the semifinals. Turin sacks Mihajlovic

The defeat in the derby costs the job of the Toro coach, Sinisa Mihajlovic, sacked in the night after the expulsion for protests for the second Juve goal (perhaps spoiled by a foul but validated by the Var) with which the bianconeri qualify for the semi-final of the Italian Cup

Italian Cup: Juve in the semifinals. Turin sacks Mihajlovic

A derby is always a derby and the sparks never fail. Even when the game is over. And in fact, after Juve's 2-0 victory in the derby della Mole which earned them qualification for the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and which unleashed Turin's anger over an alleged black and white foul on the occasion of the second goal, the twist took place in the night when the grenade president Urbano Cairo sacked the coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Exemption due not so much to the defeat but to Mihajlovic's excessive protest after the Var validation of the second black and white goal which cost the Serbian coach yet another expulsion.

In reality, Juve dominated the game far and wide and could have ended up scoring if Mandzukic, deployed in the center of the Juventus attack in place of Higuain, hadn't missed two or three incredible chances before throwing in and doubling the lead at 67th. Until then, however, Toro, despite being at a disadvantage due to a great goal by Douglas Costa in the 15th minute, had remained in the game.

The watershed of the match was the second goal when Khedira, perhaps intervening foully on Acquah, served Dybala who launched Manduzukic who, after repeated previous errors, sent into the net. The protests of the grenades are vehement. The referee appealed to the Var and validated, even if the doubts remain. But the toughest protest was that of Mihajlovic: "What is the use of the Var if you don't see the foul?". Inevitable expulsion and in the night the exemption.

Now Toro must find a new coach and in pole position is the former coach of Iner and Napoli Mazzarri, but, beyond the results also conditioned by the many injuries, Cairo probably didn't like Mihajlovic's excessive nervousness who always puts his heart into it but ends up taking away his family's peace of mind. Even if there are those who say that the feeling between Cairo and Mihajlovic had long since ended and that the owner reproached the Serbian coach for having made him buy players like Niang who cost a lot but failed on the pitch.
Juve, on the other hand, earns the semi-final of the Italian Cup and at the end of the month will have to contend with the aggressive Atalanta of the former Gasperini, who eliminated none other than Sarri's Napoli. It will almost be another derby and it won't be easy for the Italian champions.
