Banking cooperation: this is how it works in China and Japan

The Association of Popular Banks recently published a study on the state of banking cooperation in Asia and, in particular, in two of the main economies of the continent, the Chinese and the Japanese. The work takes into consideration the system of cooperative and mutual banks, spread homogeneously throughout the continent, and that of specific banking realities in China and Japan, such as rural credit cooperatives and rural mutuals (which have seen profound transformations in recent years), in China, and the Shinkin Banks and the Norinchukin Bank, in Japan, rich in a long history and a tradition that has allowed the local economies, linked to the territories of these countries, to excel at a global level.

The Secretary General of Assopopolari, Giuseppe DeLucia Lumeno, speaking of the publication, he says: "It is a useful preparatory tool for the next international meetings that our Association has already scheduled for the next month of October and signals the attention of Credito Popolare for everything that happens to the entire sector and for its evolution on an international scale. It will be possible to get out of the economic and financial crisis only by linking all the positive experiences that exist in the world and Banking Cooperation is undoubtedly one of these”.

Banking Cooperation in Asia has assumed an increasingly large weight and importance both in terms of credit institutions and activities in support of development and economic consolidation. Today, it has 155.214 banks, 201 million members, deposits of 3.519 billion euros and loans of 1.710 billion euros.
