Convention, Clinton calls Bloomberg

Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York three times, former Republican now independent, will support the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House against Donald Trump. The New York Times writes it quoting one of the former councilors of the junta, Howard Wolfson. Bloomberg had also thought of running as an independent candidate but on March 7 he definitively announced his willingness to give up for fear that his entry into the field could favor Trump.

According to reports from Wolfson, Bloomberg will officially express his support for Clinton during the Democratic convention, which begins today in Philadelphia and will last until July 28. "He will do it - said the NYT source - as one of the country's major entrepreneurs and as an independent".

Bernie Sanders, who has given his support to the former secretary of state, will give a highly anticipated speech. Thousands of supporters of the Vermont senator and activists from environmental movements gathered in Philadelphia on the eve of the meeting, contesting the political line of the party and of Hillary Clinton and hoping to be able to influence the meetings.

President Barack Obama will also speak on Wednesday, once again reiterating that Hillary “is the most prepared candidate ever. She knows the problems of national politics and foreign policy better than anyone and understands that in our democracy things do not always happen as quickly as we would like, but require compromise and the ability to implement it.
