Oir-Agici conference: Turkey focuses on renewable energies

The seminar on the Turkish renewable energy market, organized by the International Observatory on the industry and finance of renewables in collaboration with Agici, Enel Green Power and Assolombarda, will be held on Friday 16 March at the Ambrosianeum in Milan (9-13). Oir-Agici conference: Turkey focuses on renewable energies

The success of the seminars on Brazil, Russia, India and China prompted the Oir, the International Observatory on the Industry and Finance of Renewables, to continue also in 2012 in theorganization of events aimed at understanding the market of renewables and energy efficiency in the most important emerging markets. The seminars identify and discuss the problems and possible solutions for the development of the activities in the countries examined.

The next seminar, which will be held on Friday 16 March 2012 in Milan at the Ambrosianeum, in Via delle Ore 3 from 9.00 to 13.00will concern the Turkish renewable energy market. The event will be attended by: Roberto Testore of Assolombarda, Murat Kutluturk of Etrm (consulting company specialized in the Turkish energy sector), Claudia Casetti of Enel Green Power and Paolo Bertuzzi of Turboden. The works will be coordinated by Prof. Andrea Gilardoni. The seminar is organized by Agici in collaboration with Enel Green Power and Assolombarda and with the patronage of the Lombardy Region (to register www.agici.it).

During the seminar will be presented the Oir report on the Turkish renewables market. The main findings of the study are:

- Turkey is betting a lot on renewables: the Government's goal is to reach 30% of energy production from green sources by 2023. In 2010, the Turkish Government implemented the Renewable Energy Law 2010 and the Strategic Plan 2010-2014 ) to achieve this goal.

- The Strategic Plan envisages the construction of 10.000 MW of wind power by 2015 and 5.000 MW of hydroelectric power by 2013. The Plan establishes an energy efficiency increase target of 10% by 2015 and 20% by 2023. The Strategic Plan 2010 also supports research and development projects in the field of renewable energies.

- The law on renewables envisages "feed-in" type incentives for a period of 10 years for energy produced from biomass, geothermal, hydroelectric, solar and wind power for plants built by 2015. Producers will also have an 85% discount on transmission costs for 10 years.

– A further support to the development of the local renewable industry is a tariff bonus for those who choose to use plant components (motors, wind turbines, solar panels, etc.) manufactured in Turkey.
