Merchants and craftsmen contributions 2021: here is the extension

Good news for merchants and craftsmen. INPS has extended the August 20th, 2021 the payment of social security and welfare contributions due by workers enrolled in the INPS special autonomous management of artisans and commercial businesses. The aforementioned categories will therefore have 3 months more time - the previous deadline was set for May 17, 2021 - to pay the amount due.

The news had been anticipated by the Minister of Labour, Andrea Orlando, and was made official by INPS with a message, n.1911 of 13 May 2021, with which the Institute also communicates that it has received the authorization from the Ministry of Labour. The purpose of the extension is to give workers struggling with the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic some breathing space, giving them more time to pay.

At the same time, the Institute announces that the interministerial decree of the ministries of Labor and the Economy will arrive by 20 August, which will formalize the criteria and methods for implementing thepartial contribution exemption up to 3 thousand euros for self-employed and freelancers. A measure for which the Sostegni decree has allocated 2,5 billion euros.

In fact, the 2021 Budget Law established a partial exemption relating to the payment of social security and welfare contributions owed by the self-employed and freelancers to INPS and the autonomous social security funds. The exemption will be valid for those who, in the 2019 tax year, received a total gross taxable income for personal income tax purposes not exceeding 50mila euros and have undergone a drop in turnover o of the fees in the year 2020 not less than 33% compared to the year 2019.

Traders and artisans who in the meantime had paid contributions will probably be able to count on compensation in the event of ex post recognition of the right to exemption.
