After a 10-year wait, the renewal of the contract of the doctors and managers of the National Health Service was finally signed.

The signing of the contract, which concerns about 130 health workers, arrived at the Public Administration Negotiation Agency (Aran).

"We have achieved, after years, economic and regulatory results that mark a furrow with years of contractual absence", announces the National FP Cgil on Twitter.

Here, in summary, what are the innovations provided for by the new contract for doctors.

1) AVERAGE INCREASE OF 200 EUROS PER MONTH

"The hypothesis of renewal, relating to the three-year period 2016-18 - explains Andrea Filippi, secretary of FP Cgil Medici - provides for an average per capita increase on the remuneration of the position of 200 euros per month".

However, slightly less than 80% of the doctors will benefit from the increase, given that the renewal hypothesis was signed by all the unions except for the Cimo-Anpo-Fesmed federation, which represents approximately 22% of the workers affected by the contract.

2) WITH 5 YEARS OF SENIORITY CERTAIN POSITION: POSITION REMUNERATION OF AT LEAST 5.500 EUROS

"All young people who have completed five years of seniority - continues Filippi - and who therefore had the right to a position that companies have not recognized for years, now have the right to obtain it with a minimum salary of 5.500 euros, compared to the previous one of 3500 euros". Clarified the obligation of companies to give a paid job to everyone, even to those who have worked on a fixed-term basis, with or without interruption.

3) MINIMUM SALARY OF 1.500 EURO FOR NEW RECRUITERS

Furthermore, continues the trade unionist, “managerial and professional careers have been rewarded and the work of young new hires has finally been valued, who will immediately take on a minimum position salary of 1.500 euros per year. A historical event that has never happened before”.

4) GUARDS: THE INDEMNITY RISES, STOP FOR THE OVER-62s

Another important novelty provided for by the new doctors' contract is the possibility for those over 62 to be exempt from the guards. Not only that: the night guard allowance rises from 50 to 100 euros per night, 120 euros for those who work in the emergency room. 

5) FOUR STEPS OF FIXED POSITIONS

Four steps of fixed positions are established for professional assignments, which rise from a minimum of 5.500 euros to 6.500 up to a maximum of 11.000 or 12.500 per year.

6) REMUNERATION FOR POSITION BASED ON SENIORITY

Everyone will be guaranteed a remuneration for a certain position on the basis of seniority and regardless of the position. 5000 euros for the passage of 5 years, 6000 for the passage of 15 years and 7000 for the passage of 20 years.

7) NEW TRADE UNION RELATIONS TOOL

Finally, a new trade union relations tool will be set up to address important issues: first and foremost the health and safety of workers, starting with the issue of the emergency attacks on healthcare personnel.
