Bank contract: Abi-union negotiations interrupted

Now the break is final. Today was a crucial day on the delicate issue relating to the renewal of the national banking contract. But the meeting between the unions and representatives of the Italian Banking Association (ABI) did not lead to any convergence, rather causing the definitive breakdown of the negotiations.

This was announced by the general secretary of Fabi, Lando Maria Sileoni, at the end of summit with Abi, explaining that "now a phase of internal organization is opening among the unions, we will bring together the workers in assembly from 15 December and we will give an orientation for the national strike which will presumably be called in the second half of January 2015".

Leaving the Milan office of Abi Sileoni also added that the unions also intend to "interrupt industrial relations in all groups, starting from the date of the strike".

On the possible future developments of the story in relation above all to the possible next actions of the ABI, Sileoni hypothesized: "He will probably be able to cancel the national contract but at that point he assumes an enormous responsibility towards the country".
