Consulta-Csm: white smoke for Sciarra and Zaccaria

Thanks to the convergence between M5S and Pd, the situation of Consulta and Csm begins to unblock itself, with the election of Silvana Sciarra and Alessio Zaccaria – the forced candidate for Consulta Stefania Bariatti is rejected.

Consulta-Csm: white smoke for Sciarra and Zaccaria

After more than two months of ballots and black smoke, the first yes from Parliament arrives on one of the names of the candidates for the Constitutional Court: the first elected judge is Silvana Sciarra, candidate from the Democratic Party, but also supported by the Movimento 5 Stelle, after the online referendum organized on Beppe Grillo's blog, which had seen the professor of Labor Law and European Social Law at the University of Florence collect 88% of the votes from 5 Star militants.

The name of Sciarra has attracted a large number of consents also from the Chamber: the candidate of the Democratic Party received 630 votes, clearly exceeding the quorum set at 570.

The convergence between Grillini and Pd also had its effects in the Consulta: in fact, at Palazzo dei Marescialli he was elected Alexius Zacharias, candidate of the M5S who also received the support of the Democrats, ending up obtaining 537 votes, 88 more than the 449 required, since the election of the lay members of the CSM has a lower quorum than that of the constitutional judges.

A convergence, this, which made the vice president of the Chamber Luigi Di Maio rejoice, who entrusted social networks with his satisfaction with the choice of "super partes names with transparent methods", exalting the so-called "Five star method", defined as the "best antibody for the state against corruption and mess-ups".

On the other hand, Stefania Bariatti's candidacy for the Consulta fails. Bariatti, supported by Forza Italia, received only 493 votes, remaining far from the quorum of 570. What weighed on her failure to be elected was the lack of support from the M5S, which assessed her candidacy as unpresentable, but also a frond inside the force, who, between blank ballots and defections, have scuttled the name of the professor of international law at the University of Milan.
