Consip, the Government comes out unscathed

The motions presented by the oppositions are rejected in the Senate, including that of the Mdp which however opens a political case within the government majority - Zanda's motion approved, which proposes to identify a new board of directors without, however, as the rejected motions requested, resetting the top management of the company that manages public procurement.

Consip, the Government comes out unscathed

The Hall of Palazzo Madama has approved the majority motion, first signatory Luigi Zanda, with 185 votes in favour, 76 against and 5 abstentions. Immediately afterwards the Mdp motion was rejected: the text was rejected with 182 votes against, 69 in favor and 16 abstentions. The motions of the Northern League and the Italian Left were also rejected, while the other motion approved was the one presented by the “Idea”-Fdl senator Andrea Augello: the Senate said yes with 244 yes, 17 no, 11 abstentions.

The Government therefore emerges unscathed from the tussle over the Consip case, which has taken on important political contours due to the involvement of the Minister of Sport Luca Lotti. At the start of the session, the president of Palazzo Madama, Piero Grasso, read a letter from the Minister of Economy Pier Carlo Padoan, in which the manager of via XX Settembre underlined that Consip's board of directors has now resigned. With the "resignation by two directors", is the content of the letter, "the entire board of directors is understood to have resigned". Immediately afterwards, the leader of the Pd Luigi Zanda had in fact hypothesized a postponement of the debate until after June 27, the date on which the shareholders' meeting will appoint the new board, but without making an official request in this sense. However, the oppositions said they were in favor of proceeding today, as foreseen by the calendar.

The Democratic Party, together with the rest of the majority, presented a joint motion inviting the executive to proceed as soon as possible with the identification of a new board of directors. The oppositions instead asked for the zeroing of the summits, making heavy criticisms of the management of the affair by the executive: their motions were rejected, the government line has passed but the political case remains. That is why now many members of the Democratic Party are asking for an internal verification by the majority, to test the stability of the executive chaired by Gentiloni after the hostile attempt by the former Pd. Dem Marcucci: "This distancing from the government is worrying, a political verification is needed".
