Consip, 5 billion purchases with "sustainable" content

The Public Administration purchasing company has published the 2018 Sustainability Report, drawn up taking into account the contribution to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 UN Agenda

Consip, 5 billion purchases with "sustainable" content

Over 12 billion euros of purchases - of which 5 billion with "sustainable" content - on Consip e-procurement tools, with advantages in terms of savings, efficiency, simplification and speed of procedures. It is the main data that emerges from the Consip 2018 Sustainability Reportwhich also highlights:

· more than 700 dematerialized contracts through the electronic platform, equal to 566 million unprinted pages and over 4.600 tons of CO2 not released into the environment

· over 800 thousand TOE (Tons of Oil Equivalent), equal to 2 million tons of CO2 saved due to energy efficiency measures in the last 10 years

· over 100 companies enabled for e-procurement tools, of which 99% are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises that have achieved a turnover of almost 4 billion euros (Mepa)

· a satisfaction rate on the use of tools by over 90% for administrations and over 80% for businesses.

Alongside the economic-financial balance sheet, the Report describes the company's identity, way of working, results and challenges, giving an account of the social, environmental and economic effects generated by initiatives and projects. Four areas in which numerical and factual indicators are provided:

1) the value creation for the country, through the requalification of expenditure, the ability to innovate, attention to sustainable aspects and the contribution to the circular economy

2) the listening skills of the main interlocutors, public administrations, businesses and all the institutional subjects involved

3) the respect for the rules and the continuous improvement of the governance, control and security model, to ensure ethics and integrity of behaviors and activities

4) the centrality of people who with competence, professionalism, experience and responsibility represent the key to business success.

The Report, drawn up taking into account the contribution to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, has received the attestation of the Global Reporting Index (international standard for sustainable reporting).

Sustainability, innovation and research will have to represent fundamental values ​​and parameters to be used in the selection of the best offers in public tenders, adequately enhancing the investments of administrations and businesses".
