The showdown in the PDL could come sooner than expected. The so-called government, led by the frozen secretary Angelino Alfano, threaten to desert the National Council of the party, on the agenda for next Saturday. To throw down the gauntlet is Fabrizio Cicchitto: "In the last few hours there has been a radicalization of the clash on the part of stokers, loyalists and hawks, so it seems that the conditions for a serene debate are lacking - he told the newspaper Il Mattino the deputy of the PDL -. I would also add that the agenda is not clear, nor is the context in which such a delicate meeting should take place. Hence, the doubts about our participation are worthy of further investigation".
Furthermore, the former group leader highlighted the division in the PDL, emphasizing that “a part of the party recognizes itself in the positions of the secretary Angelino Alfano. In any case, it is absolutely wrong to make this acceleration to the detriment of the government", because "if we go to immediate elections, the center-left is already ready with Matteo Renzi and we do not have a candidate, given that Alfano is not shared by one part of the party . But if you don't go to the vote, things are no less serious: you would pass from a friendly government to a hostile government, in which the PDL would not exist. So I ask myself: what is the point of this acceleration?. I think there is no reason why some party exponents should be branded as traitors: the story of Gianfranco Fini has absolutely nothing to do with what is happening".
In short, the clash becomes even more bitter. Yesterday evening, as always, Daniela Santanchè had not mince words: "I hope it will end on Saturday: we must all agree that we are back to Forza Italia and that all the proxies are in the hands of Berlusconi, who is the one who gets votes for everyone and therefore must be able to decide. Then if there is someone who prefers the minister's seat, thinking that he has become capable and that he is the best, he will wake up and it will be a nightmare”.
And yet, Minister Alfano seems to be the most optimistic: “We always trust and hope that our political movement will remain united – he said – and we are aware that President Berlusconi is the victim of a serious judicial injustice. President Berlusconi has always behaved like a man of state: I am convinced that this is the line that the more he has rewarded and the more he will continue to reward ”.
