Confindustria, green light to Squinzi, his team and his program

Now it's official, Giorgio Squinzi is the new president of Confindustria. His program was approved by the junta with 102 yes, 22 no and 21 abstentions. A more marked success therefore than that obtained in the previous junta, where the owner of Mapei had obtained 93 votes in favor against 82 for Alberto Bombassei, a split never recorded before.

These are the main names of the team fielded by Squinzi: the chair of industrial relations goes to Stefano Dolcetta, economic development to Aurelio Regina. For Research and Innovation there is Diana Bracco, for Regional Policies and Simplification there is Gaetano Maccaferri. Antonella Mansi was given the Organization, Aldo Bonomi the Business Networks, Ivan Lo Bello the Education, Fulvio Conti the Study Center and Alessandro Laterza the Mezzogiorno.

A confederation of Italian industry in line with the previous Emma Marcegaglia management. The outgoing president was in fact Squinzi's main supporter together with the Berlusconi family, while Bombassei was backed by Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, who had recently left Confindustria itself.

However, Brembo's number one is keen to ensure that there is "no rift" and "no current, only a group of thinkers who wanted to give their contribution and did so".

And if Montezemolo, speaking to journalists when leaving the junta, hopes that Confindustria "will be able to rediscover its unity soon", Emma Marcegaglia has a completely different idea who, commenting on Squinzi's victory, spoke of a "rediscovered" unity and of a "stronger and more solid" with which she said she was "very satisfied".

The handover will take place with the Confindustria assembly on 23 and 24 May and will take place at a time of great change in the political and associationist balances determined by the Monti government.
