Confindustria, Del Vecchio second farewell

After leaving the central organization of Italian industrialists, Luxottica also leaves the trade federation of eyewear companies, Anfao

Confindustria, Del Vecchio second farewell

The association of eyewear manufacturers loses a very important piece: Luxottica has communicated to the unions the exit from Anfao. After the exit from the territorial areas of Confindustria in the middle of last year, the multinational puts the last link with Confindustria behind it.

«It is undeniable that from an association point of view, the exit of a company like Luxottica is an important loss for us. In terms of turnover and employees, the group represents a lot, in the territory and at a national level. It is clear that last year's exit from the territorial system had already put us in front of this risk. We are saddened and sorry, also because we are losing a historical associate who herself grew up with the whole system. However, we can do nothing against a company choice that we acknowledge and which perhaps goes beyond mere participation in Anfao, but which seems to have more relevant political implications», comments the president of Anfao Giovanni Vitaloni.

As the Corriere points out, the decision of the group led by Leonardo DelVecchio it was taken at the time of renewal of the category contract. Anfao made it known that it has every intention of continuing work on the renewal of the national contract, since Luxottica would not have communicated its intention to exit the category agreement to create its own contract, both national and corporate at the same time.

«It is clear that Luxottica's exit from Anfao raises an important question. If the Agordo-based multinational really intends to apply the national Anfao contract, the commitment will have to be put on paper, the matter must be settled in a formal way. In general, we are concerned about the evolution of representation in the employer sector. We will meet the company on 30 October and it will be one of the topics for discussion. We are sorry that this has only matured with communications and without confrontation», explains Paolo Pirani, general secretary of Uiltec, a Uil category that deals with various sectors, including that of eyewear.
