Confindustria, Marcegaglia to company captains: Fiat is wrong, going out is not worth it

"It is not true" that "there is some objective convenience" in abandoning Confindustria, also because "staying within the associative system does not in any way mean giving up using the legislative instruments that article 8 makes available to companies". This is the message of the letter sent today by Emma Marcegaglia to all the presidents of the Confindustria system. The number one of viale dell'Astronomia explicitly declared her "disappointment with the reasons" that led to the Fiat at defection, specifying that in any case the choice of the Lingotto "must be respected" because "Confindustria is and absolutely must remain a voluntary association of free entrepreneurs".

However, the choice of the Turin company should not lead to the conclusion that "Confindustria has not worked in recent years to modernize industrial relations". Marcegaglia therefore reiterates that "there is no contrast between the two fundamental innovations that have been introduced in recent months: the inter-confederal agreement of 28 June ratified on 21 September, and article 8 of the August maneuver". In fact, "a modern, regulated but certainly not rigid system of industrial relations" was shared with the trade unions. Added to this are "the opportunities offered by article 8 to derogate in the company, through trade union agreements".

In closing, Marcegaglia therefore invites entrepreneurs not to trigger the domino effect after the Fiat case, which has already followed the abandonment of Pigna: “Today we must be stronger and more united than ever to face a serious international crisis and to help our country emerge head-on. Together, therefore, we will be able to fully seize all the opportunities that we have been able to build even in these difficult years".
