Confindustria: after Regina Vacchi takes the field for the presidency

The president of Unindustria of Bologna, Alberto Vacchi, who heads the Emilian multinational Ima, has broken his mind and ran for president of Confindustria after Squinzi – Vacchi will have to duel with the former vice president of Confindustria Aurelio Regina but it is not excluded that in other candidates will be profiled in the next few days

Alberto Vacchi against Aurelio Regina. For now, the battle for the succession to Giorgio Squinzi at the helm of Confindustria, which will renew its top management in the spring, looks like this, but it is not excluded that other candidates may emerge in the next few days.

Vacchi, president of Unindustria Bologna and number one of the IMA company in Ozzano Emilia (specializing in packaging machines) released his reserve yesterday and publicly advanced his candidacy. He will have to contend with Aurelio Regina (leader of the Tuscan cigar), former vice president of Confindustria before breaking up with Squinzi.

Regina announced her candidacy months ago in an interview with Il Foglio and made no secret of the fact that one of the tasks of the new presidency of Confindustria will be to try to recover Sergio Marchionne's FCA which controversially emerged from the Confindustria ranks under the presidency Marcegaglia. But obviously the problem is not organizational but strategic: it will be necessary to see if the Italian industrialists feel willing to take up Marchionne's competitive challenge above all in the field of industrial relations which Marchionne has strongly innovated under the sign of company bargaining and productivity.

The orientation of public companies, whose top management is appointed by the government, will greatly weigh on the choice of the future president of Confindustria.
