Confindustria: 47,7 billion GDP burned in the South. 537 businesses closed per day

GDP down by 47,7 billion euros, almost 32 thousand fewer companies, over 600 thousand jobs lost, 114 thousand people on layoffs and almost 2 out of 3 young southerners unemployed. This is the snapshot of the crisis from 2007 to today according to the Check Up Mezzogiorno elaborated by Confindustria and SRM on the state of health of the southern economy.

"Sturdy interventions are needed to amplify the timid positive signals", say the economists of Viale dell'Astronomia who ask for "the decisive implementation of institutional and structural reforms", from taxation to energy, from simplification to the reduction of PA payment times, because "the decisive match for the South is played around the full and effective use of cohesion policy resources".
