ConfCultura, appeal to the Italian institutions to face the Covid-19 lockout crisis

Shared international measures and a serious policy of listening to the cultural sector with immediate operational repercussions: these are the requests made by ConfCultura in the appeal addressed to the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and to the main Italian and European institutions, with the intention of activating an urgent alert to deal with the serious crisis in the sector due to the restrictive measures imposed to contain the contagion from Covid-19.

The association brings together the most important private companies involved in the management and development of the cultural ecosystem, identifies as a priority the protection of employment levels and the need to restart from culture to restart the whole of Italy.

This is why it is essential for ConfCultura to forcefully relaunch that commitment that was already starting in the country with sector reforms, which however must be guaranteed a longer and more courageous look, also with a series of huge and challenging investments, as well as through the involvement of experts. In particular, the proposal is of set up a double team: a mixed working group with analysis and scenario scholars, and another company operating technician, to identify concrete proposals, solutions for the future and enhancement tools of the virtuous impact of the cultural economy on the whole national territory.

The aim is to protect and safeguard the positive "cultural ecology" of the country, a non-polluting propulsive energy that represents a fertile ground on which Italy's greatness is based as well as an important economic engine that drives many other sectors: from tourism to food and wine via the highly celebrated Made in Italy. The museum sector alone contributes to Italian economic growth with 27 billion euros a year, equal to 1,6% of GDP, generating 278 million in revenues (BCG and MiBACT data - October 2019).

The sector, precisely because of the current emergency, is recording losses of over 20 million euros per month and will therefore desperately need support to maintain employment (about 117 jobs per year) and, at the same time , survive a possible extension of the suspension of activities.

ConfCulture, founded in 2001, is theaggregation of private companies dealing with delthe management and development of the cultural ecosystem, accompanying the sector through investments and operations with an innovative and advanced approach of the associated companies that represent all sectors of the vast supply chain: from ticketing to exhibitions, from insurersations to transport, from publishing to multimedia, merchandising, design, cultural tourismathem. Website: http://www.confcultura.it
