Maurizio Gardini, 53, from Forlì, agricultural entrepreneur, will be the new president of Confcooperative, the colossus of white cooperatives which has a very important presence in the economy and partly also in Italian finance.
Gardini replaces Luigi Marino who, after a long presidency, resigned in recent days from the Confcooperative summit to run for Parliament on the "Scelta civica" list inspired by Mario Monti.
Following the decision of the Confcooperative board, Gardini will be officially presented as the new president in the next few days. Until now he was the president of Federagri-Confcooperative, the giant of white coops in the agri-food sector.
It will be interesting to understand what Gardini's strategy will be and above all how he will position himself against the red Lega coop within the Alliance of cooperatives which now sees the three cooperative centers proceed united
