Confcommercio: sales at the start, expenditure of 336 euros per family

Each Italian family will spend 336 euros on the occasion of the winter sales, for a total value of 5,3 billion euros. This is the estimate released today by the Confcommercio Research Office. According to what emerged from the usual survey of the association, at least one Italian out of two (51%) will take advantage of the discounts at the beginning of the year which will begin on January 3 in all regions of Italy, with the exception of Basilicata and Campania which will be brought forward by one day . However, the propensity of consumers to buy on sale is down by 7,3% compared to 2014, with a drop that reaches almost 20% since 2010.

"The weakness of consumption, the obligatory and incompressible expenses (electricity, gas, insurance, Rai license fee immediately after the last wave of tax payments that affected Italians in December), the distrust in the future and the extremely prudent attitude of our compatriots increasingly oriented towards cost containment, makes us think that even for this year sales will not represent the way out for fashion retail”, comments Renato Borghi, vice president of Confcommercio.
