Confcommercio: consumption recovery accelerates. In April (+0,5%)

Secondo Confcommercio 2015 should be the good year for the restart of consumption. This is one of the main issues addressed today in Milan during the general assembly of the trade and tourism trade association.

In fact the tradesmen's association registers in April a consumption growth by 0,5% compared to March, the highest value in the last 2 years. In comparison with the month of April 2014, the increase recorded by Confcommercio is 0,8%.

Without a doubt, the recovery in consumption is a positive sign that can indicate the recovery for our country. This was underlined by the number 1 of Confcommercio Carlo Sangalli who stated that both Italy and Europe "need positive signals, a 'shock' to hope such as the Expo, which puts tourism back at the center of the Italian discourse , Italy's trump card”.

For Sangalli "we are finally facing the first signs of recovery, even if timid" and moreover in a situation in which "foreign countries count for a lot, both negatively and positively". According to Sangalli, to consolidate the recovery “there can't just be cuts, they are also needed investments. The State needs to invest in physical and digital infrastructures, in advanced services for businesses and citizens". Also because, according to Sangalli, "the State that invests in the system is a State that stimulates individual freedom: which is the freedom to do business, to found a family, also the freedom to associate".

Despite these positive data, Confcommercio reports the presence of elements of uncertainty essentially linked to the perception by households and businesses of the solidity of the recovery.
