If you don't leave now, you just don't understand when. Social agriculture is the opportunity that Italy can seize in this phase of recovery. Politics, except for some good measures taken to avoid succumbing to the crisis altogether, doesn't care much about it. A historic organization close to the agricultural world such as Confagricoltura has decided, however, to dedicate a specific program to this challenge. It's called "Agro-Social: let's sow value", conceived together with JTI Italia (Japan Tobacco International) to encourage the development of entrepreneurial activities and sustainable growth of the territories.
Work plans are scheduled for the social and occupational integration of the weakest subjects to whom the State thinks little. Confagricoltura invests resources in it, because, explained its General Manager Francesco Postorino, we are convinced that we are supporting a "virtuous and competitive model of economic and social development, which allows for the application of welfare policies in the local area".
We will work in the territories to bring together productivity, health and sustainability.
The appeal of the program also comes with a competition that will award 40 and 30 euros to two sustainability-innovation projects in Veneto, Tuscany, Umbria and Campania.
Applications by 11 September to agro-social@confagricoltura.it must come from farms, social enterprises, foundations, start-ups. A good synergy with JTI Italia which joined Confagricoltura to "enhance the creativity and entrepreneurship of small companies that work closely with the territory and local communities" commented Lorenzo Fronteddu, manager of the organisation. An inclusive strategy that should urge politics to take charge of strengthening solidarity ties in the countryside. In a time of profound social changes when environmental sensitivities and good living grow.
