Photographers from around the world have until 4 January 2019 to enter the 12th annual Sony World Photography Awards Professional, Open and Youth competitions. Open to all.

To celebrate the finalists the Awards provide and highlight benefits to their careers, which include international press exposure, gallery representation and book deals.
Alongside this, the World Photography Organization, the creators of the Awards, release a new selection of entries for the 2019 Awards. Submitted by photographers from around the world, the images cover a wide range of subjects from the ten categories of the Open competition, which is judged on a single image.
The internationally acclaimed Sony World Photography Awards are one of the highlights of the global photographic calendar.

Each year, the Awards recognize the best contemporary photography of the past year and celebrate a wide variety of photographic genres.

Deadlines e jury
The 2019 judges were tasked with awarding last year's best contemporary photography through the following competitions:
Open: the best single image out of 10 categories
Youth – photographers aged 12-19, best single image that responds to a sentence
National Award: The best single image taken by a local photographer from over 60 countries. Deadline: 4 January 2019

Professional: the best series of works in 10 categories
Deadline: January 11, 2019

The judging panels are chaired by Mike Trow, Editor, Photographer, Producer (Professional Competition) and Rebecca McClelland, Director of Photography/Art Production Manager, Saatchi Saatchi & Prodigious (Open Competitions, Youth & National Awards).

Awards e show
Prizes include $25.000 (USD) for Photographer of the Year and $5.000 (USD) for the overall competition winner. All category winners will receive the latest Sony Digital Imaging equipment and overall competition, plus Professional category winners will be flown to London to attend the Sony World Photography Awards Dinner on Wednesday 17th April 2019.

The winning and shortlisted images of the awards will once again be exhibited at Somerset House, London. Running from 18 April to 6 May 2018, the exhibition will also include exclusive new work by the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award, to be announced in March 2019. Previous recipients include Candida Höfer (2018), Martin Parr (2017 ), RongRong & inri (2016), Elliot Erwitt (2015) and Mary Ellen Mark (2014).
