With Sace, wine exports are more sparkling

Wine exports are growing at a rapid pace both in European countries and in other non-EU countries, such as Russia, China, the United States and Australia, also thanks to the insurance coverage of Sace – Top performances in Veneto, Tuscany, Piedmont and Puglia – The biggest leap comes from the Chilean market, which almost doubled in the first nine months of 2013.

With Sace, wine exports are more sparkling

In his press release, SACE takes stock of one of the most interesting markets, in Italy and abroad, despite the crisis: that of wine.

Non-European countries discover the taste of wine and drive the evolution of a market that increasingly combines tradition and innovation. Russia, China, the United States and Australia: it is in these countries, in fact, that world consumption of the symbolic drink of the Mediterranean has increased the most in the last decade and promises the greatest growth margins for the years to come.

The main drivers of this trend are the socio-economic changes in many non-European countries which have resulted in an expansion and diversification of consumption, which is counterbalanced by the slowdown in the more traditional reference markets for wine. While Russia and China lead the "top consumers" ranking, with the highest growth rates in consumption since 2000, Italy and France confirm their leadership in wine production, followed by rapid steps from new entries such as Chile (+92%) Australia (+67,4%) and South Africa (57,6%).

However, in the first nine months of 2013, the export of Italian wines also recovered ground in Western Europe, growing at double-digit rates in France (13,9%) and the United Kingdom (12,4%), while Eastern countries such as Poland show a growing interest in quality Made in Italy wines (+9,5, 9% in the first XNUMX months of last year).

On the national territory in the last year, particularly positive performances were recorded by the wine districts of the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato in Piedmont, of the prosecco of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene in Veneto and of the Chianti in Tuscany. These areas all fall under the 30 Italian districts with the highest export growth (in million euros) in the second quarter of 2013.

Surveys that are confirmed by SACE's operations alongside wineries, increasingly widespread throughout Italy.

Piedmont wine grows in Asia. Paolo Scavino, a winery in the Barolo region, has insured with SACE 72.000 euros of wine supplies commissioned by a Hong Kong company; Luciano Sandrone, a farm specialized in the production of Nebbiolo del Barolo and Roero, has insured with SACE 18.000 euros of supplies of red wine (a total of 780 bottles) commissioned by a Chinese company; Marenco, a company from Strevi (Alessandria) specialized in the production and marketing of fine wines, has insured 6.300 euros of wine supplies to Taiwan.

Even the productions of Tuscany meet with great success, from Latin America to Asia. Barone di Ricasoli, the oldest Italian winery that invented the Chianti formula in 1872, obtained a 2,5 million euro loan with the SACE guarantee for its growth plans abroad; Le Crete, a Sienese winery, has insured over 80.000 euros for certain supplies of red wine in Mexico; Franceschi Leopoldo, a Montalcino winery has insured over 25.000 euros in wine sales commissioned by two Chinese companies.

From Veneto are the "bubbles" to exercise the greatest appeal in the Anglo-Saxon world. Bisol, a Treviso-based company active in the production and marketing of prosecco, has obtained a loan of 1 million euros with the guarantee of SACE for growth plans in Italy and abroad. Zonin, a well-known Vicenza winery active in the production of wines and sparkling wines, obtained with the guarantee of SACE two lines of credit for a total value of 1 million euros for its growth plans in the United States and Great Britain.

Even the wines of Puglia begin to make themselves known in the world. SACE has guaranteed a loan of 500.000 euros in favor of Cantine due Palme for the purchase of grapes for the production of fine wine for foreign markets and to support the costs of participation in the Vinitaly fair. Cantine due Palme is an agricultural cooperative of over 1200 members in the province of Brindisi active in the cultivation of vines and in the marketing of its own wine.
