VAT communications, the extension is official: sent on June 12th

After weeks of promises and uncertainties the official announcement arrives, the communication of the data of the periodic VAT payments relating to the first quarter of the year must be sent by 12 June.

The long-awaited extension, which postpones the deadline from 31 May to the second week of next month, therefore came with the signature by the Minister of Economy, Pier Carlo Padoan and the Prime Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, of the long-awaited decree.

The provision was registered by the Court of Auditors and should be published in the Official Gazette in the next few hours.

The requests of the accountants who had loudly asked for the deadline to be postponed after the numerous setbacks of recent months were accepted, albeit only in part.

Therefore, by 12 June, VAT taxpayers will have to transmit electronically, directly or through intermediaries, the communication of data on periodic VAT payments made in the first three months of the current year. A fulfillment that made its debut just this year following the approval of the tax delegation connected to the 2017 maneuver. The same provision that definitively retired the annual spending meter, introducing two new obligations in its place: the communication of data of invoices issued and received and that relating to data on periodic payments relating to value added tax.
