Competitiveness, the ranking: Lombardy first

Based on an analysis carried out by the European Commission, Lombardy is the most competitive region in Italy, even if on a continental level it is only in 143rd place - Here is the complete ranking of the Italian regions.

Competitiveness, the ranking: Lombardy first

Lombardy is the first Italian Region for competitiveness, which (let's face it) comes as no surprise to anyone given the growth and success it has enjoyed over the last few years. The primacy is confirmed by the European Commission which published the results for 2016 based on a series of indicators.

The bad news, however, is that on a continental level, in the ranking led by the London area and dominated for the last year before Brexit by the United Kingdom, Lombardy is only in 143rd place.

The analysis carried out by Brussels takes into consideration various growth indicators, such as innovation, "business sophistication", technological readiness, market size, labor market efficiency, higher and basic education and training , health, infrastructure, macroeconomic stability and institutions.

Returning to Italy therefore, taking into consideration all these factors aimed at determining the competitiveness of the various Regions, Lombardy continues to have no rivals, but an excellent second place is won by the Autonomous Province of Trento, followed by Lazio (which in the EU is instead at 156).

Wooden Medal for Emilia Romagna. The other regions of the North and Center follow. The Southern Regions, with Basilicata, Campania, Sardinia, Puglia and Calabria, close the ranking, far behind their northern sisters. Closes the ranking, Sicily.
