The general council of the Compagnia di San Paolo unanimously elected Francesco Profumo as president of the foundation and Licia Mattioli as vice president. Compagnia di San Paolo is the leading shareholder of Intesa Sanpaolo with approximately 9,3% of the shares.

Profumo, former education minister in the Monti government and former rector of the Turin polytechnic, was also president of Iren until today's meeting. He takes the place of Luca Remmert who could not be re-elected to lead the Company after two terms at the top of the institution including the last two years as president.

The foundation board also elected the five members of the management committee. In addition to the president and the vice president, the members are: Alessandro Commito, Anna Maria Poggi and Roberto Timossi. In the next few days, the entities that participate in the governance of the Compagnia di San Paolo will indicate the replacements of the members of the general council who have entered the management committee.

"The agreement between Acri and Mef envisages that by 2018 there will be a partial disposal of the shares and in the coming weeks and months we will also work on this issue even if it is not the most favorable time to think about selling shares", said Profumo minutes after the election.

The former rector stressed that there is still time and that the Company "in terms of professionalism in asset management has demonstrated over the years that it has unique professionalism and has achieved exceptional returns".
