It took several days, but in the end the answer came: nothing to do. Francesco Profumo he has no intention of resigning from the presidency of the Compagnia di Sanpaolo, despite the request for a step back arrived last week from the new mayor of Turin, the grillina Chiara Appendino.

“I answer to the general council from which I was indicated – Profumo replied on Monday to those who asked him if he considered it appropriate to resign the mandate – We need to respect the rules and I am an extremely institutional person”.

Profumo, during a meeting with the press, underlined that his decision not to resign is linked to respect for the statutory and decision-making autonomy of the entity, whose bodies are not answerable to whoever appointed them, as also sanctioned by the Court constitutional.

"Those who have made choices that I didn't agree with, such as the increase in salaries, should draw the consequences," Appendino said the week in reference to 400 euros of extra funds allocated last week by the Compagnia for top management.
