Agri-food commodities, the second edition of Cemi in Milan

After the great success achieved in the last edition, it returns to Milan CeMI – Commodities Exchange Milan, the international exchange dedicated to the production, transformation, marketing and control of agri-food commodities. The event, which takes place on Friday 21 June at the Ice Palace in the Porta Vittoria areawill bring together producers, processors, traders, importers and exporters of cereals from all over Europe.

Participants registered a week ago were already 450 accredited and over 30 exhibitors: these are reconfirmations and many new names on the Italian and international scene that highlight the importance of the event not only on a national level. Milan is becoming a stage in the calendar of the most important international events in the sector already present in cities such as Paris, Kiev, Prague, Sète, Barcelona, Budapest and Vienna.

“We want CEMI to become a solid tradition in the panorama of international stock exchanges, a fixed appointment in order to expand the international base of operators. – he comments Alessandro Alberti President of the Granaria Association of Milan –. It is strategic for us to listen to the needs of operators and our associates. Never as in these years of commitment on various fronts must we work together as a sector to encourage exchange and growth. We have crops that have also suffered the consequences of Italian choices that have penalized their production, one for all maize especially in the Po Valley, but similar considerations apply to soybeans. Made in Italy is based on the ability to produce and transform and we are called to promote it”.

In 2018, despite the slowdown in global economic growth, Italian agriculture has once again made a positive contribution to the national economy (+0,9% added value in real terms). Italian exports of agri-food products, almost 41,8 billion euros, increased by 1,2% compared to 2017.

The second edition of CeMI sees the exhibition and b2b part side by side with a moment of comparison and training on the market. At the opening of the event is indeed organized a conference dedicated to food safety: "Food safety in the agro-commodity supply chain and the management of commercial risks". The debate, moderated by the professor of the University of Milan Dario Frisio, was attended by numerous leading exponents of the sector such as Ivano Vacondio - Federalimentare President, Fabio Rolfi - Lombardy Region Agriculture Councilor, Carlo Licciardi - Anacer President of the National Cereal Association, Marcello Veronesi - Assalzoo President – National Association of Zootechnical Food Producers, Anna Roscio – Head of Products and Business Services Intesa San Paolo Sales & Marketing Department, Paola Tampieri – Head of Quality and Environment Tampieri Spa, Davide Busani – Agriculture, Food and Life Business Manager SGS Italia Spa and Marco Sigola – Quality Manager Cereal Docks Spa.

In the afternoon there is the opportunity to participate in a seminar organized by ICEA (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification) entitled "The organic cereal supply chain - The certification process: legislation and control system".
