EU Commission, Italy last in Europe for bureaucracy

European Commission releases industry data. Italy around the average for innovation and labor productivity but in last place for bureaucracy and regulation.

EU Commission, Italy last in Europe for bureaucracy

The results of a series of tests carried out on the industrial sector of the Member States were presented by the European Commission. Italy ranks last in terms of the burden of bureaucracy and public regulation. The countries with the leanest procedures in Europe are all found in the North: Finland, Estonia, Denmark and Sweden have the most efficient regulatory system.

As regards labor productivity per person employed in industry, the Italian figure is just below the EU average, in thirteenth place. Irish workers are more productive with a figure almost double the European average.

Finally, in the ranking of innovative enterprises, measured as a percentage of all enterprises in the state, Italy rises above the average figure even if not in the top positions. Behind us large economies such as Great Britain and France but Germany, firmly at the top of this ranking, seems very far away.
