Positive data for Italian trade in August. On an annual basis, exports grew by 15,1% and imports by 10,9%. Compared to last July, however, imports rose by 2,3%, while exports recorded a drop of 1,1%.

In the last quarter, the economic trend was, on the contrary, positive for exports (+1,2%) and negative for imports (-2,5%). These are the latest data provided by Istat, which specifies how Italy's trade balance with non-EU countries was in any case negative by 2,4 billion, slightly down on the deficit in August 2010 (-2,5 billion). Restricting the analysis to the energy sector, however, the deficit is larger than last year (from -4,5 to -4,9 billion).

The trend increase in exports in August was particularly marked for non-durable consumer goods (+18,8%) and energy (+17,2%). As for imports, the only reduction was recorded in the capital goods sector (-3%), while above-average growth rates were recorded for non-durable consumer goods (+20%) and intermediate products (+13,5, XNUMX%).
