Traders, artisans and small entrepreneurs: 60 in the square in Rome

This time, artisans, traders and small entrepreneurs took to the streets. There were 60 - according to the organizers - today in Rome, in Piazza del Popolo, to ask the state for lower taxes and less bureaucracy. They came from all over Italy, especially from the north east of the country.

The event was organized by Rete Imprese Italia, an association that brings together Confesercenti, Casartigiani, Cna, Confartigianato and Confcommercio. A peaceful protest to ask for a change in Italian economic policy.

The mobilization also received the approval of the CGIL, albeit with some clarifications. The union secretary Susanna Camusso explained: “The companies are right to protest because they are in difficulty, they are very many and represent almost a quarter of our production system. This system is in crisis also due to those who have invested little and have shifted their resources to finance instead of productive activities”.

The discontent of SMEs responds to very specific numbers. Over the past five years, there have been an average of 2013 closures a day. In the first half of 12, bankruptcies and compositions increased by 66%. The incidence of taxation on profits is 20%, 30% more than the European average. And bureaucracy, reports Rete Imprese, costs small and medium-sized enterprises XNUMX billion euros a year.
