Twist: after the freeze of the League and Tremonti, Berlusconi withdraws the Fininvest-saving rule

"To clear the field of any controversy, I have ordered that this just and dutiful rule be withdrawn". With these words, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi withdrew the disputed Fininvest-saving provision from the maneuver which envisaged the postponement of Mondadori's 500 million compensation to Cir. The frost from Lega and Tremonti was decisive.

Twist: after the freeze of the League and Tremonti, Berlusconi withdraws the Fininvest-saving rule

Sensational reverse on the Fininvest-saving regulation. The measure that was supposed to prevent Silvio Berlusconi's company from paying 500 million to Carlo De Benedetti's Cir has disappeared from the text of the financial manoeuvre. This was announced by the Prime Minister himself, who in a note released in the afternoon explained that he had "given instructions for this just and dutiful provision to be withdrawn" to "clear the field of any controversy". The cold weather of the League and of the Minister of Economy Giulio Tremonti were decisive, but it is not excluded that the inevitable reservations of the Quirinale also influenced the choice of the premier.

The "adaziendam" rule, which appeared unexpectedly yesterday in the text of the budget law, had sparked protests not only from the opposition, but also from some sections of the majority, further fueling tensions within the government. It consisted of just ten lines in which two paragraphs were added to the Code of Civil Procedure. The goal was to suspend the execution of compensations exceeding twenty million euros, in order to protect Fininvest from the sentence on the Lodo Mondadori, expected within the week. The leader of the Pd Pierluigi Bersani commented with irony: "Berlusconi tried, but now we still have to keep our eyes open".
