Colosseum: the 600 million Consip tender is underway

The new Consip tender is worth 593 million euros, in line with the project carried out with the Mibact, for the assignment in concession, for five years, of museum services for the Colosseum Archaeological Park (the area which includes the Flavian Amphitheater, the Roman Forum-Palatine Hill and the Domus Area). The objective of the tender is to improve the services offered to the public in an area which is among the most important in the world from an archaeological point of view.

The tender is divided into two lots - communicates a joint note - the first dedicated to ticket office services, information, reception and assistance for the visit and the second to the services of publishing and sale of editorial products, merchandising and gift items (bookshop) - and will be awarded with the criterion of the most economically advantageous offer (best quality/price ratio, with a distribution of scores equal to 80 technical and 20 economic) precisely to enhance the quality of the services offered as much as possible.

This is the most important initiative implemented so far in the context of the collaboration between Consip and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (Mibact) – renewed last June - which entrusts Consip with the task of carrying out the tenders for the renewal of concessions for cultural assistance and hospitality services for the public in the 32 autonomous museum institutes and in the 17 regional museum poles. So far they have been banned 22 races for a total value of over 1 billion euros. A collaboration which, underlines the CEO of Consip Cristiano Cannarsa, "represents for Consip a great opportunity to serve the immense artistic heritage of the country".

Of these 11 were already awarded definitively: for the surveillance services of the Colosseum Archaeological Park; the cafeteria of the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum, of the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan and of the Archaeological Museum of Naples; the catering services of the Vittoriano in Rome and Palazzo Massimo, also in Rome; ticket office, teaching and bookshop of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome; ticket office, bookshop and assistance for visiting the Archaeological Park of Paestum, ticket office and bookshop of the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice; the museum services of the Royal Museums of Turin and the National Gallery/Museum Center of the Marches.

The award is expected soon of the other tenders for the museum services of the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence/Museo di San Marco, the Cenacolo Vinciano in Milan and the Palazzo Ducale in Mantua.

Finally, they will be launched in the coming months the tenders for the museum services of the Uffizi Galleries in Florence and the catering services of the Royal Palace of Caserta and the Royal Palace of Genoa. Added to these are the recently announced tenders for the museum services of the Bargello Museums in Florence and the Pinacoteca di Brera/Palazzo Citterio in Milan and the cafeteria, restaurant and bookshop services of the Pilotta monumental complex in Parma.
